I’m an artist and multidisciplinary designer with a practice shaped by place, colour and a lifelong curiosity about the world around me.

Growing up on the slopes of Haleakalā on Maui, Hawaiβ€˜i, gave me a deep connection to the natural environment, the ocean and the spirit of aloha β€” influences that continue to run through my work today. Australia has been home since 2004, and my experiences between Hawaiβ€˜i, Australia and New Zealand have continued to shape the way I see, create and connect with the world around me.

My background spans Fine Arts, Textile & Surface Design and Visual Communications, with a multidisciplinary practice across painting, illustration, textiles, print and product development. I’m drawn to the process of translating original artwork into new forms β€” exploring colour, composition, scale and material to create work that can move from the canvas into print, textiles, products and collections.

Collaboration is an important part of my practice, working alongside designers, makers and creative brands to develop ideas from initial concept through to final outcome. I enjoy the balance between artistic expression and considered design, while maintaining the hand-drawn, painterly qualities that are central to my work.

Aloha,

Cara
